CGA is Number One in the State  of New Jersey!

Mary is the lead professor and Program Coordinator of the Computer Graphic Arts program at Rowan College Gloucester County. Located in Sewell, NJ, the CGA program has two programs of study: Game/Interactive Design and Print Design. With over 100 students in the program, Mary is responsible for the curriculum, computer labs and software. "Professor Mary" as she is known, also advises students as they move on to complete their Bachelor's degrees.

In the Fall of 2017, Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) was recently ranked the number one college for Computer Graphics program in the state of New Jersey by Universities.com.

Established in 1996, Universities.com is an online resource dedicated to helping students find the right college or university to fit their individualized needs and career goals. They rank colleges and universities throughout the country based on a compilation of data from government sources, student surveys, college graduate interviews and editorial reviews. In their 2017 list of "Best Computer Graphics Colleges in New Jersey," RCGC's Computer Graphic Arts (CGA) program received the top ranking in the state.

"I was not surprised by this designation," said Mary A. Malinconico, Associate Professor and Program Coordinator. "I have known for the past 15 years that we were the best computer graphic program in the state. Our students are the outstanding creative young people who have tremendous talent. In addition, our two new labs in the new Business and Corporate center allow students access to the newest technology and Adobe Creative Cloud software, all for the low cost of community college tuition. This allows our students to gain real world experience while still in school."

RCGC offers two tracks for CGA students: a Game and Interactive Design track for students looking to start a career in digital media, including computer and video games, virtual environments and other internet applications, and a Print and Design option for those who want to work as print and multimedia graphic artists. Each track offers either an associate degree option or an 18-credit Certificate of Achievement.

CGA students learn on the latest software and technologies and receive real-world work experience through community design projects and RCGC's award-winning Cooperative Education Program, which provides industry-specific, paid internship experiences to prepare students to enter the workforce. CGA Courses are taught by faculty members who are working industry professionals, in small class settings with an average 20 to 1 student teacher ratio to allow for personalized instruction.
